Potpourri

Just to break the monotony of connection questions i came up with some directs. Enjoy!!

1. Lemme start with a weird cryptic question :

St. George's _______ + St. Patrick's _______ + St. Andrew's _______ = ?

(No need to fill the blank. Just gimme the RHS or the resultant :P)

2. This object comes primarily in two models - M26 and X26 (police models) and C2 (the
Civilian model). The name of this weapon comes from a legendary fictional character, Tom Swift of juvenile science fiction fame. A number of prominent figures (along with the inventor of this object), including Steve Wozniak and Isaac Asimov, have cited "Tom Swift" as an inspiration. What object?

3. ) The name of this Indian city derives from a Sanskrit phrase meaning "City of Virtue". The city is also known as The Oxford of the East, due to the various educational institutions, and also sometimes referred to as The Detroit of India owing to the many manufacturing companies, particularly automobile giants, having their base within the city's metropolitan area. Name the city.

4.) According to folklore, this word originated in the 13th century denoting a typhoon which saved Japan from Mongol invasion by wrecking Kublai Khan's fleet. Now we know it in a somewhat different context. What word?

5.) This is a multi-award winning hip-hop group based in Denmark. Formed in 1997, they consist of Isam Bachiri (born in Denmark and of Moroccan background), Waqas Ali Qadri (born in Denmark and of Pakistani background), and Lenny Martinez (born in Honduras and is of Cuban and Honduran descent). The band is all set to perform in India in a few days' time. Name the band.

6.)
Chouw(the pic on top) is the kind-hearted one and Mouw the more mischievous one. And together, they send out the message that if you put your heart and mind together, anything can be achieved. How do we know Chouw and Mouw better?

Great going guys!! nice effort by everyone...hope udit's net connection gets repaired soon...

Here are the answers :

1. Union Jack. (imba answer by Pertesh...and a humorous one by Pulkit...when i posted this question i thought it wud b vague but then i realized that pulkit is also a member of this blog :P)

St. George's Cross(flag of england) + St.Patrick's Cross(original flag of Ireland)+ St.Andrew's Cross (flag of scotland) = The Union Jack. The Union Jack of UK is the actual superimposition of these flags....

2. The TASER (Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle) more colloquially known as the stun gun. (if u've watched hangover then u wud hav got this answer :))

3. Well...itz not Chennai!! Actually, there are two cities in India that could be known as Detroit of the East because they r the leading automobile places..One of them is Chennai but it does not fit the entire description.

The correct answer is Pune. The name pune/poona comes from the sanskrit phrase punya nagari or city of virtue. (Since i had gone to pune recently i had to put up this question :P)

4. Kamikaze (known for the Japanese suicide corps in WWII)

5. Outlandish ( i think they r performing today at Delhi...aicha=imba song)

6. The new mascots of Videocon who together combine to form the new logo.

aaou-maou-chou???i havent hrd of it i guess....
